Winter has arrived

We were heading home Sunday night from our weekend away and the 5 hour drive was very tiring, especially because about 1/2 way into our drive we hit snow and icy roads. We managed to see 5 cars off the road all together and we were almost a 6th car because someone infront of me signalled they were turning off but than he began swearving back and forth in front of me. The drive certainly woke me up and I didn't even have to stop for Baby Mild

What... Snow?

I thought Spring had arrived but last night the wind picked up and this morning we woke up to the winter wonderland. Oops I mean winter messyland, it snowed about 25 cm overnight and changed to rain this morning so it's going to be a heavy job cleaning up the driveway this morning, Jay and I are getting a little breakfast in our belly's and then heading out to get the job done.

Shopping Ahead

To try and stay ahead we are trying to get the end of season deals at stores to try and save money in the long run. Today we got a great deal on winter jackets/snow suits for the kids for next year. Having 4 kids it can be daunting to try and get 4 of everything every season. We used some of our tax return to by snow suits for the kids and have these ready for next fall all for under 100.00 normally you would spend 3-400 to get them all set, I think we did really good on this one and now we won't have to worry next year...let the snow fall.

Cold Snap!

Argh, the last 2 days have been the coldest days we have had all year, I'm freezing!
The oil man must be just loving this weather as my heaters are all cranked, just like everybody elses. Thankfully this is only supposed to last another day and then it will begin to warm up a little. It hit a low of -29 C this morning with the wind chill. Jack Frost is turning up his magic, well that is the joy of winter anyway, I have found 1 benefit to it being this cold, it's easy to get my wife in the cuddle mood come bed time.LOL :0)

January Thaw!

Well what a couple of days we have had here in Nova Scotia, yesterday it was as high as 16 and here local it was up over 10 in the afternoon, I would say pretty much a repeat performance today. It sure has melted most of the snow away at this point. Of course knowing it is only early in January I fully expect Old man Winter will rear his head again and soon. It was really nice to have the break from the cold though while it lasted.
