AT this past weekends Nascar event at Montreal something I didn't think I would see actually happened, it rained and they pulled the cars onto pit lane and outfitted them with rain tires, wipers and brake lights. It was great to get the race in without the lenghty rain delays that normally occur when they have to wait out the rain and dry the track. Will this program transfer to the Sprint Cup events in the near future?

The Excitement Begins
Well race fans it's time to get going...8 months and 43 drivers have been widdled down to just 12 and now the race is really on. If you are a nascar fan like me you know that this weekend is the start of the playoffs of Nascars top racing division the Nextel Cup Series. The final spots were secured after last weeks race at Richmond and now there are 12 hungry racers frothing over the Championship. This year is shaping up to one of the most interesting chases we have had in years with many questions yet to be answered. Can Jimmie Johnson repeat as champion, will Jeff Gordon win his long awaited 5th championship, could Tony Stewart win his third and cement his reputation as one of the best racers of all time? Don't forget about Kurt Busch or Matt Kenseth who are still looking for their second championship as well. Let's not take away from the other drivers but they have yet to proven themselves as champions at this level, could one of them break through this year and make their mark. The competition is tough with drivers like Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton, Martin Truex, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer and Carl Edwards all looking for the elusive championship. All I can say is let's get ready to go racing it should be an exciting 10 weeks.

When change isn't always good

Well I got my projects done, I was excited to sit down and actually watch a whole Nascar race... my first this year. The race was at one of my favorite tracks to watch...Bristol...normally there is alot of cars banging on each other...sparks flying off the cars...wrecks...and some upset drivers...normally this makes for an exciting race to watch. This spring/summer the good folks at Bristol decided it was time to resurface the track and it was a shame because this made the track so good to run on that the cars were able to spread themselves out all over the track and there was no banging, no sparks...no wrecks... and to cap it off even the drivers that had mechanical problems and were out of the race they were still happy...NO DRAMA it was so boring I fell asleep about 3/4 of the way through the race and decided I might aswell go to bed and get some sleep. Sometimes change isn't always good...but next week there is another race so here's hoping to a more interesting race
