Handy Helper

With our upgrades to our house one of the recent projects we took on was replacing our ancient old doors off the kitchen with new, modern and bigger doors. This project wasn't too bad and in the end we had nice doors that really opened up the space as they were a couple of inches higher and wider. Now no project in our house would go on without some helpers and this one was no different. Blake helped me with some of the easier parts of the job by breaking off the shims and also using the drill to put in the screws. I enjoy letting them help me most of the time and he had fun and felt good about helping put in his new door.

Renovation Project 2

I have taken on an extra job so to speak helping a friend of mine from work renovate a giant old turn of the century home. We have been spending our free time the last couple of months working on gutting this old place. Only now do I think we are making any progress, there is a lot of work yet to be done but we are almost past the demolition mode and that will be a huge feeling of accomplishment.

Getting Ready for Paint

I am finished my dry walling of our new bedroom, it was a great learning experience and I am glad it is finally over. I have a little bit of sanding to do in the morning and we have most of the walls primed already. We will be getting the paint for the weekend and I am hoping to get that finished so I can get the carpet down. After that I will only have to do a little bit of molding and the ceiling which will be a drop type ceiling, but that will wait till fall to get finished.

Another Project Done

Well it's late into the evening or early in the morning depending on your view of things. I have completed another step in the bedroom renovation, gone is the old exterior door (yuck) in with the new modern 6 panel door. It took a little work as their was a lot of space to shim up but the job is done and the door is awaiting a coat of white paint to finish it up. It's time for bed now, another day of work on tap for tommorrow.

House Renovation Complete?

I have been told that this afternoon the work on the house will finally be completed, it has been a hard couple of weeks waiting for the work to get finished.
A few things conspired against getting the work done, weather (rain/snow) for a week straight and then the wrong siding was ordered. Anyway if everything lines up correctly by tonight I will have siding on my house and the inside windows will be finished up so I can paint the trim. Let's hope!

Renovation Frustration

Just got the call from the renovator and although we were expecting our work on the windows and garage door replacement to be completed today it will be delayed until next week. Someone is coming today to finish up the framing of windows but the siding didn't arrive and had to be re-ordered for next week. It can be frustraiting when you want the job done and it is delayed, especially the front entrance of your house looks like shambles. One good thing though is until all the work is completed and signed off on we don't have to start making any payments for the job.

The renovation continues...

Tommorrow will be an exciting day it is a day away from work. After the kids get off to school my awesome wife and I along with our youngest little buddy Blake will go off shopping for doors fro our new family room. We will be shoppoing around to get teh best price. I wouldn't be surprised if we sneak a little snack for lunch somewhere before we heas home but we'll see.
